It's been over a year since we heard from Tall Ships but whatever the Brighton four-piece have been doing, it's worked. 'Meditations On Loss' is a barnstorming, thunderous return that shows-off a more rambunctions, potent side to the band: like fired-up early Editors, the track flies through its three and a half minutes without stopping for breath as a crunching bass line and lung-busting drum work provide the bed for an increasingly anthemic vocal performance. With a string of UK dates on the horizon it's been well worth the wait; bravo Tall Ships. -G.O'B
